Though it wasn’t the best match between the two sides, it was the most significant historically. By avoiding defeat, Arsenal maintained their Premier League unbeaten run and, most importantly, seal the Premier League title at the home ground of their fiercest rivals.

Even though the final result was a draw, this incredible 4-4 is remembered most fondly by Spurs after coming back from 4-2 down to equalise in dramatic fashion. It will also be remembered for David Bentley’s outrageous 40-yard volley against his former side. What a hit!

In the 2011-12 season, talk was rife of Spurs finally overtaking Arsenal in the league standings and finishing in the top four. Their meeting at the Emirates turned out to be a turning point for the Gunners, as they came back from 2-0 down to score 5 unanswered goals. The match was full of brilliant goals, including a Robin van Persie curler, and the result gave Arsenal the necessary momentum to go on and finish in the top four.

For the second leg of their Carling Cup semi-final, Spurs hosted Arsenal and made full use of their home advantage to humiliate a young Arsenal side. Goals from Lennon, Keane, Malbranque and Jenas saw them head to Wembley in style, where they beat Chelsea 2-1.
