This week’s derbies include arguably the most significant East Anglian derby, the ferocious Moscow derby, Clasico Tapatio, the Wiener derby and a top of the table clash in Bosnia & Herzegovina as FK Sarajevo take on Željezničar.
Norwich vs Ipswich, Saturday 16 May 2015, 12:15 GMT+1, Carrow Road, Championship Playoff Semi-Final
After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the East Anglian rivals both go into this game with a massive chance of reaching wembley and eventually the promised land of the Premier League. With so much riding on it, this East Anglian derby is arguably the biggest ever derby between these two rivals.
Sarajevo vs Željezničar, Saturday 16 May 2015, 16:00 GMT+1, Olimpijski Stadion Asim Ferhatović Hase, Premiera Liga
This one really matters. Playing your biggest rivals, three games left, top two, one point between you. FK Sarajevo go into the game one point ahead of Željezničar in this ‘must not lose’ fixture… derbies don’t get much bigger than this, and we will be there to cover it!
Spartak Moscow vs CSKA Moscow, Sunday 17 May 2015, 11:30 GMT+1, Otkrytie Arena, Premier League
The biggest game in Russian club football. While there is a big gap between the two sides with only a few games left you can guarantee it will be as ferocious as ever. After a rather average season Spartak will be desperate to get one over their bitter rivals CSKA on Sunday.
Rapid Wien vs Austria Wien, Sunday 17 May 2015, 15:30 GMT+1, Ernst-Happel-Stadion, Bundesliga
Originally the Wiener derby began as a class rivalry with the working class Rapid taking on the team of the bourgeois in Vienna. While this may not still be the case, the rivalry remains as heated as ever. Check out what happened last time we went to the Vienna derby.
Atlas vs Guadalajara, Monday 18 May 2015, 00:00 GMT+1, Estadio Jalisco, Liga MX Clausura
Atlas & Guadalajara is regarded as the oldest derby in Mexico and this one matters, beginning similarly to the Wiener derby as a battle of the classes. After a cagey 0-0 in the first leg of the Clausura quarter finals, it’s all to play for as they clash in the latest edition of the Clasico Tapatío.
