Back for another edition of Sick Kit Friday! Let's take a look at what's new this week.
This season might not be over yet, but English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday is already looking ahead to the next. They already confirmed the design for their 17/18 third kit.
The Owls wanted their fans to help them celebrate the 150th anniversary of the club, and so they let the kits be designed via competition entry. This winning submission came from 27-year-old Karl Nuttall.
Although the real kit won’t look exactly the same, the club plans use this classic white-and-gold design as a “working template” for the final product. Hopefully they keep most of it the same; it looks great as is!
Argentinian side Independiente and kitmaker Puma teamed up for a different celebration: that of the club’s big stadium rebuild, finally completed in December after nearly 7 years. The new Estadio LDA is commemorated with a subtle graphic that decorates the front of the otherwise-clean white kit, besides the golden Puma logo and the red club crest that add colorful accents.
But it’s a limited-edition kit — only 5,000 will be printed — so get one while you can.
OKC Energy, who are the only American team partnered with Under Amrour, debuted their new 2017 kits — or at least, their 2017 away kits — during USL opening weekend last week. Here are the two new kits they’ll be wearing this season.
The home kit (left) slightly mirrors the club crest, vertical green stripes coming to a triangular head; think of it as “Southampton on the top, party on the bottom.” The wavy stripes of the First Fidelity Bank sponsorship actually fits in relatively seamlessly without breaking up the flow of the design, too, which is a rare sight to see.
For the away kit (right), OKC have opted for checkerboard striped sleeves a la the Columbus Crew, with navy and a more lime/neon version of the classic Energy green.
For the second year in a row, Vancouver-based brand Reigning Champ have had to collaborate on a specialized line for a Cascadia rival post-MLS Cup win. What they came up with for the Seattle Sounders this year is just phenomenal.
The collection comes with track jackets, crewnecks, fleeces, and more, all in the sleek style Reigning Champ has been known for.
Which new kit is your favorite? What will you be rocking this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
And thanks, as always, to FootyHeadlines for the scoop.
