With the start of the 2016 MLS season almost upon us, we have the pleasure of seeing what each MLS side has come up with for their new home and away kits. Though there are 40 on offer in total, we have hand-picked our five favourite kits for the upcoming season. Check it out!
Houston Dynamo – Away
Houston Dynamo’s new away kit is mostly black with a v-design on the chest similar to the Germany’s World Cup-winning 2014 Adidas kit design. The two stars above the crest represent the Dynamo’s two MLS championships.
Portland Timbers – Away
This is the exact kit you would expect from a team that hails from Portland, widely known as the Rose City. There is one very important addition to this year’s kit, and that’s the single star above the axe in the Timbers crest. It commemorates their first ever MLS championship, which they won last year.
Montreal Impact – Home
There are quite a few subtle elements to Montreal Impact’s home kit this year that we really like. First off is its simple design, with black vertical stripes on a blue base. What’s not to like? Then there are the tags of local pride. On the back of the neck is the Quebec flag, while on the bottom front of the shirt are several metallic silver flowers.
Vancouver Whitecaps – Away
Vancouver’s new away kit is just stunning. Taking inspiration from the white-capped mountains that surround the city, the kit screams ‘Fresh’, fading from clean dark blue at the bottom to clear sky blue at the top. Bravo!
New York Red Bulls – Away
Finally we have the Red Bulls’ new away kit. The navy base with gold sleeves and stripes on the side of the body perfectly complement the red of the Red Bull sponsorship on the chest. The ‘New York’ tag behind the neck is a nice touch too.
