Matthew has been going to Anfield since 2003, so has experienced some highs and lows as a Liverpool fan over the years. Liverpool Football Club runs through his veins, so for an authentic voice on Liverpool FC give Matthew a follow.

I am Matthew Skelly, a 20-year-old Liverpool fan. I have been going to Anfield since 2003 in the days of Gerard Houllier. In my years as a football fan I have experienced some memorable times as a red. Good and Bad.

Liverpool Football Club runs through my veins and will do so until the day I die. Nothing could ever replace my love for the club and the buzz of match days. I live for the moments that go down in history, the emotions and the atmosphere, something you wouldn’t quite experience anywhere else other than Anfield.

What is your favourite Copa90 video and why?

My favourite Copa90 video is “The evolution of football – Tactics through the ages”. I found this video incredibly interesting and personally do not believe there are enough good quality videos looking at the tactical side of football. I am massively in to football analysis and I am hoping to one day work in football analytics. The video gives a very good insight in to how the game is always changing and that tactics are as important as the players on the pitch.

What is the best football game you have seen and why?

It has to be Liverpool vs BVB in the Europa League at Anfield in 2016. I would say Istanbul, but I wasn’t there and was 9 years old so my memories aren’t as vivid as those in the Liverpool vs BVB game. I was sat around 10 seats away from the BVB supporters and the atmosphere was something I have never experienced and might not experience again for years.

Both sets of fans were at their best. Both sets singing You’ll Never Walk Alone before kick-off and the game was out of this world. The excitement and buzz within the stadium gave me a high I have never experienced. Even when I got home I was still buzzing from the atmosphere.

What is your favourite football snack?

My favourite match day snack is either Curry Rice and Chips or a Steak Pie, I switch it up quite a lot.

Who is your footballing idol?

My footballing idol currently is Luis Suarez. He is the best player I have ever watched live. In my opinion he is better than Cristiano Ronaldo who I’ve seen a few times. I will be able to comment properly when I’ve watched Messi and Neymar in person as to whether he’s the world’s best.

As for my idol when growing up, it has to be Fernando Torres. He was just brilliant and I just wish he had stayed to partner Luis Suarez.

I suppose Steven Gerrard was alright as well.
