Why Are There No Openly Gay Footballers?

Being gay in the game has always had it's stories, conspiracies and arguably - controversies. Born in Colombia to traditionally strict parents, filmmaker John Reavey follows Alex, a 22-year-old from London, finding out his story about what it means for him to be gay and play football today. Exploring how this isn't just an issue for someone like Alex, and how a club can bring people together to help enjoy the game - and also change lives. Special thanks to: London Titans F.C.

This film was funded by our Creator Commissions initiative. Each month, there is a grant of up to £1000 accessible to any COPA90 fan and filmmaker to tell a story they feel the football community should know about.
