Currently playing for the Utah Royals and commonly known as Veró, the Spanish attacking midfielder has been a prominent pioneer of the women’s game for over a decade. Veró was the first Spanish female footballer to release an autobiography, which she titled “Veró Boquete, la princesa del deporte rey”, translated as “Veró Boquete, the princess of the king sport”. She was instrumental in launching a petition for video game producer Electronic Arts to introduce female players on FIFA, leading to the introduction of 12 women’s teams on FIFA16. Veró’s hometown club, Sociedad Deportiva Compostela, renamed their main stadium to Estadio Veró Boquete de San Lázaro in homage to the Spanish legend.
